Dr. YACOWITZ

Dr. Yacowitz, DVM

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Yacowitz was born in Ithaca, N.Y, and grew up in rural Ohio and Piscataway, N.J., when it was still a rural area. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University in 1971 and received his veterinary degree in 1976 from the University of Parma, Italy. He was a staff member at Raritan Animal Hospital in Edison from 1976-1985 and has been practicing here at Little Silver Animal Hospital ever since. In addition, Dr. Yacowitz is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and has been a member of the International Veterinary Society of Acupuncturists since 1996. He was a teaching assistant for the society in 2000.

Dr. Yacowitz lives in Shrewsbury with his wife, Madeleine, who is an artist, as well as three dogs, BooBoo, Birdie, and Tater; three cats, Queenie, Clownie, and FooFee; and numerous chickens that are the source of many eggs! He also has two grown children, Daniel, a chef, and Gena, an actress.

In his spare time, Dr. Yacowitz enjoys fishing, traveling, gardening, diving, and photography. You may have noticed the beautiful framed photos of African wildlife around the office, which were taken by Dr. Yacowitz on a medical mission trip to Uganda in 2011 and Botswana and South Africa in 2008. Despite his many varied interests, Dr. Yacowitz says his favorite activity is coming to work each day. He finds medicine fascinating, especially new innovations and alternative treatments.

Dr. Scott Kilcullen

Dr. Kilcullen, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kilcullen was born in Harvey, Illinois and grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago. He spent his college and pre-veterinary years in Chicago in Wrigleyville. After graduating from Western Illinois University in 1993, he went south to Ross University Veterinary School, where he met his wife Stacey and graduated in 1999. He then completed internships at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana and St. Joseph University, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Dr. Scott worked at VCA in Staten Island from 2000-2002 and at Route 516 Animal Hospital in Old Bridge from 2002-2005. When Monmouth Animal Hospital closed suddenly in 2005, Dr. Kilcullen bought their practice with Dr. Yacowitz and came here to Little Silver Animal Hospital as a partner in the business. He was very interested in the success of Dr. Yacowitz’s acupuncture treatments, and in 2007 became certified as a veterinary acupuncturist through the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida.

Dr. Kilcullen and his wife live in Ocean Township, NJ with their two children Mackenzie and Liam, their dogs Sasha and Diamond, and rescued cats Patrick and Payton. Anyone who knows Dr. Kilcullen knows that he’s a big Chicago sports fan – he loves “Da Bears” and the Cubs – he says they’re loveable losers now winners! Be careful if you play poker with Dr. Kilcullen – he loves the game and has played in many tournaments, including the Aussie Millions in Melbourne, Australia, and the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Regan

Dr. Regan, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Regan grew up locally in Holmdel, NJ. She graduated from Colorado State University in 1991, earning a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Anatomy. Dr. Regan spent one year at the University of Dublin Veterinary College before returning to the U.S. to attend Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her DVM degree Cum Laude in 1997. She was a member of Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society from 1993 – 1997. She is U.S.D.A. certified and is currently seeking acupuncture certification.

Dr. Regan joined the Little Silver Animal Hospital staff in 2005. Her previous experience includes work at Toms River Animal Hospital, Home Veterinary Services, and Manalapan Animal Hospital. She lives in Colts Neck, NJ with her husband Ivan, son Zee Claude, daughter Stevie, her golden retrievers Olive and Brisket, and her cat Stella. Her hobbies include scuba diving, skiing, recreational off-road jeeping, camping, and listening to music. Dr. Regan travels to Aruba yearly, where she is an active lecturer on both veterinary and human medical topics at the Aruba Health Seminar.

Dr. Stacy

Dr. Kilcullen, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kilcullen was born in Chicago but grew up “all over”, living in six different cities before moving to New Jersey in 2001. She and Dr. Kilcullen closed on their first New Jersey home in 2001, ten days before the World Trade Center was attacked. Dr. Kilcullen immediately traveled to New York City to volunteer at the disaster site, where she provided vital medical care for the search and rescue dogs.

Dr. Kilcullen graduated from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri with a B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Business. When she decided she wanted to be a veterinarian, she went to the University of Florida to complete her pre-vet requirements. She graduated from Ross University Veterinary School in 1997, and did her senior clinical rotation at Purdue University. She is also a certified U.S.D.A. Veterinarian, able to complete all the exams, vaccinations and paperwork required for international travel with your pet. She also works closely with many local rescue organizations and is on the Board of Three Little Kittens Rescue Group.

Dr. Kilcullen was the medical director for three veterinary clinics in Staten Island before joining the Little Silver Animal Hospital staff in 2003. She is married to Dr. Kilcullen, and describes their daughter MacKenzie as a drama queen and son Liam as full of high energy. She loves to play poker, just as Scott does, and they have traveled to Las Vegas and Atlantic City often to play their favorite game. Disney World in Florida is a yearly vacation spot for their family as well. Dr. Kilcullen’s other favorite activities are going to the movies and eating good food.

Dr. Izzo

Dr. Izzo, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Izzo is originally from Short Hills, NJ and has lived in Monmouth County since 1982. He completed his undergraduate studies at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa, and graduated in 1978 from Bologna Veterinary School in Italy, where was a classmate of Dr. Yacowitz.

Dr. Izzo is married to Dr. Tortoriello, who is also a veterinarian. Together, they owned and operated Shrewsbury Animal Hospital for many years, selling the practice in 1998. Dr. Izzo has been a member of our staff here at Little Silver Animal Hospital since 2000. He and his wife live in Tinton Falls. Dr. Izzo is a licensed pilot who enjoys flying planes when he can. If he’s not up in the air, he might be found riding his vintage motorcycle or sailing on his sailboat, Catnip.

Dr. Sopronyi, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Sopronyi is originally from Jackson, NJ and currently resides in Tinton Falls. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Pathobiology at the University of Connecticut in 2011 (Summa Cum Laude) and graduated in 2016 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (proud Penn-Wee!). Dr. Sopronyi and his girlfriend, Melissa, live together with their 2 cats (Sunny – male & Charlie – female), adorable tri-pod pitt-mix named Tibby, and rotating foster pets. He enjoys nature/beach walks, fishing, camping, gardening, and just about anything outdoors and science related! He is a seasonal camper each summer and enjoys spending a lot of time with family when not around the office.

Dr. Haupt, dvm

Veterinarian

Dr. Haupt is a compassionate, Veterinarian with 21 years of experience. She earned a B.S. in Animal Science from Rutgers U. , Cook College, in 1997 then her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri in 2001.

Dr. Haupt began her career in General, Emergency Small Animal Medicine, Surgery & Dentistry in the busy & beautiful suburbs of Kansas City, MO before returning to her native Jersey Shore. Dr. Haupt carries an unwavering commitment to excellence in standards of care and is very excited to be part of the Little Silver team.

Dr. Haupt shares her home with her 5 Fur-Baby Rescue’s, including her  most recent additions, 2yr old paired kitties. When not working, Dr. Haupt enjoys family time with her 3, “two- legged” children, Sinead and twins Sean and Casey. She loves all things out-doors, including walking/hiking, bike-rides, and loves music and art. Dr. Haupt’s favorite thing about being a veterinarian is getting to work every day, doing exactly what she loves, while still being challenged! Dr. Haupt finds fulfillment in learning new modalities, and the integration of her years of experience with the constant advancement of Veterinary Science & Medicine.
